Dana Point Community Info
Dana Point, a town built alongside oceanfront, rolling hills and coastal bluffs, was named after seaman and author Richard Henry Dana, Jr. The honorable Mr. Dana, in his book, Two Years Before the Mast, claimed it to be “the most romantic spot on the California Coast.” As a community of over 35,000 people, Dana Point residents enjoy celebrating together. From the Turkey Trot in November, and Festival of Whales in March, to the 4th of July fireworks show residents and business owners work together to make their community strong. Dana Point Harbor, the Ocean Institute, beautiful beaches and hotels, delicious restaurants, shops filled with one-of-a-kind treasures and custom-designed crafts bring visitors back, as well. Dana Point is part of the Capistrano Unified School District and has one public elementary school, one middle school, and one high school as well as a charter school, and many private schools.
